Cafe Eden occupies one of the old shop houses facing the river in the center of Battambang. It seems to be a popular hangout spot, and with good reason. The food is good, there are some comfortable places to sit, either in the the open air ground floor or the air conditioned upper floor, and the staff are very friendly.

Chicken Salad Sandwich
The Chicken Salad Sandwich on Parmesan toast from Cafe Eden

The menu offers mostly international foods with a few Khmer and Asian dishes. I tried the chicken salad sandwich, which is served on a rosemary and Parmesan toast. The aroma alone was definitely a treat, with the strong scent of rosemary, garlic and Parmesan. The toast really made the sandwich, which was filled with a salad that was a simple mixture of chicken, onions and mayonnaise. The potato chips served with the meal seemed to be home made, and were quite good as well.

Between the location, the ambiance, the free wi-fi, the food and the staff, Cafe Eden is a natural for a hangout. After my lunch the first day in Battambang, I found myself back there again for a coffee and a snack the next day.

Cafe Eden is open daily except Tuesdays from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. You can check the Cafe Eden web site for more information.
