Among Thailand’s many unusual festivals and events, the annual Tattoo Honoring Festival stands out as one of the more unusual ones. The festival takes place every year some time in March – it will be 7 March this year so you can see it this weekend. The UK’s Guardian newspaper site has an interesting photo gallery of the event.

The festival is held at Wat Bang Phra in Nakorn Chai Si, in Nakorn Pathom province east of Bangkok, about a one hour drive.
