Making a More Rewarding Vacation

More news from my friends that help support responsible travel choices. In Search of Sanuk’s Dwight Turner has a guest blog on Mark Wien’s Migrationology web site titled "7 Steps to a More Rewarding Vacation". In it, he suggests seven simply ways you can get past the pitfalls of mass tourism and have a truly rewarding experience.
On a related note, one of the options I have yet to mention is the Ponheary Ly Foundation in Cambodia. Ponheary runs a guide service in Siem Reap, and her brother Dara is one of the best guides you could have for Angkor. Several years ago, she started introducing travelers to the other side of Angkor, the rural people trying to eke out a living and an education in what is still one of Southeast Asia’s poorest countries. So many people were so moved by their experiences with Ponheary that they helped to set up and run the foundation, so even more people could be helped. Read their latest News from the Field post to see how one couple from Nebraska had an experience they won’t soon forget.
