It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for the two train systems to integrate their ticketing system, and we’ll have to keep waiting. But, there is one interesting development along these same lines. The Chaophraya Park Hotel has become the first hotel in Bangkok to integrate a subway pass with your room key. This means that, when you check into the hotel and receive your credit-card type room key, it will also be charged with a complementary one day pass for the subway, which has a station just a few steps away from the hotel. You use the same card to access your room, or the subway.

According to the press release, this is just the first of what the subway operator hopes will be many such agreements aimed at getting people to use the mass transport system more. Other hotels along the subway line include the Grand Mercure and the Dusit Thani.
