Updated Angkor Guide – Now With Slide-shows
Sat 14 Nov 2009
I’ve now completed revisions to the Asia for Visitors guide to the Angkor Archaeological Park and Siem Reap. Revisions include updated maps, additional sites, and more information to help you plan your visit to the ancient city around Angkor Wat.
Among the [hopeful] improvements included in this update is the addition of slide-shows to the descriptions of the various sites. Over the years, it’s always been a challenge to figure out how best to show you what a particular sight or attraction looks like. In the "old" days, I had to be careful about how big images were, since most people didn’t have high speed connections. Those days seem to be mostly behind us, so now the challenge is how best to get a lot of images on a page, to give you the best idea possible about what you’ll see if you visit a particular sight. I happened on the slide-show software, and they seemed like a good solution. It does require the Flash plugin, but that’s only a problem if you’re browsing on an iPhone, I think. For an example, you can visit the page for the Preah Pithu Group.
Next up: Phnom Penh.
