Phuket Gets More International Flights
Fri 13 Mar 2009
Thai Air Asia continues to expand, benefiting to some degree from the economic downturn, and Phuket seems to be one of the prime beneficiaries. According to the Phuket Gazette, the budget carrier plans to start daily direct flights between Phuket and Hong Kong in June. This is on top of the airline’s existing direct flights to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, but has not yet been announced on their web site. The Gazette story also claimed that Air Asia would make Phuket its second hub in Thailand, after Bangkok.
The story went on to say that Air Asia’s eight daily flights between Bangkok and Phuket were usually full. How’s that for some good news on the economy?
Where-ever you are, have a good weekend.
